An Interview With My Daughter

It’s time to register for Pre-K. I find it so incredibly hard to believe that she’s already going to Pre-K, but at the same time I feel like she’s been with us forever. It’s a weird feeling.

I really wanted a way to be able to preserve our little girl before she turns into a teenager in front of our eyes. I’ve seen these toddler interviews floating around facebook and thought it would be fun to listen to her responses for some of them. She’s a really interesting girl. She’s intelligent, has big feelings, and loves to make people laugh. We’re more different than we are alike. She loves to be the center of attention, doesn’t mind talking to strangers, has the best sense of humor, and knows things at four that I didn’t learn until high school. I admire her so much. She makes me proud, and my pride in her overshadows the fact that she sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out.

The polar vortex caused school to be canceled, so I set out to talk with her this morning, and we turned it into a quick date to Starbucks to bribe her into answering the questions  to spend some quality time and try to get to know her more than I already do.

Here’s what she had to say:

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A mommy.

What makes you happy?

When you say “I love you.”

If you could do anything right now, what would you do?

Play with you.

What do you look forward to when you wake up?

Play with my Barbie house.

How do you show people you care?

I kiss them.

Pretend you’re a chef, and tell me about your restaurant. What foods do you serve?

It looks like a big brown room and people sit next to the wall. I would serve Pancakes to people.

Are you talking about Cracker Barrel?

Nope.

What do you think you’re going to dream about tonight?

Princesses

If you could ask a wild animal any question, what would you ask?

Why would I ask an animal a question? Animals can’t talk. They wouldn’t care. I would just say I love you.

You’re a photographer for a day, what would you take pictures of?

My family and friends just like you!

Describe a great day. What are you doing that makes it special?

Playing tic tac toe.

What makes your friends so awesome?

They’re really, really nice.

What makes you so awesome?

I care about people.

What are three things you want to do this summer?

Eat watermelon outside, play, and swim in the water.

What one thing do you do now that you need an adult for but would like to try to do all by yourself?

Go sled riding.

If you had to give everyone in the family new names, what would they be?

Jenna, Phil, Ariel, and Eric.
