Seven

It’s hard for me to believe the little girl we had prayed so hard for, labored so long for, and endured a traumatic delivery for is already seven. The year we spent fighting sleep and crying is long gone. The terrible twos are over. The strong-willed threenager we had is now a polite, intelligent, well-spoken…strong willed seven year old. We fought long and hard to look into the face of this beautiful girl of ours, and with each year that passes, I still cannot believe she is ours.

We spent her birthday playing hooky from school for a “yes day”. We swam, ate too many sweets, were surprised by our best friends, and saw a movie for the first time in two years. We even found some roses on my moms rose bushes that we were sure were her gift to Piper. Happy birthday, PJ! We love you more than anything!

Welcome to Artifact Motherhood. This is a collaboration of artists from around the world who have come together to share our stories of the joys and struggles of our journey. Through our writings and visual records we want to create memories that are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artifacts we are leaving behind for our children and for generations to come.
