I am a wife and mama to two little miracles from Morgantown, West Virginia. I've had a passion for photography my entire life, but when I had my daughter three years ago, I felt a deep urge to capture her every move. Her tiny baby feet and hands were changing every day, and I wanted a way that I could hold on to those memories forever. Photography is a gift that I provide my family with. I want my children to have authentic documentation of their childhood. I, wholeheartedly, believe that photography is an heirloom. I am living my dream by getting to know other families and telling their story through a series of photographs. I love to learn about, and document, what you love about your family. Babies change fast. The beautiful chaos of life is something you'll want to remember the rest of your life. Helping other families provide an heirloom for their children is my life's mission.

About Me

I am a wife and mama to two little miracles from Morgantown, West Virginia. I’ve had a passion for photography my entire life, but when I had my daughter three years ago, I felt a deep urge to capture her every move.

The beautiful chaos of life  is something you’ll want to remember the rest of your life. Helping other families provide an heirloom for their children is my life’s mission.

Instagram post 2195215755795449660_12073077 I'm never on top of my Instagram game enough to do a Friday Intro, so how about a Monday one to start the week?
1) one of my favorite things/ somewhat of a collection I have is blankets. I love them. I feel like it's almost an unnatural obsession, but truly, I feel happiest when I'm wrapped up in a blanket.
2) my childhood bedroom was bright orange. Back in the day, I wanted to be an interior designer, so my mom let me design and decorate my own room. It was beach themed and I painted a sunset mural next to my bed.
3) My mom also sent me on a tour of a culinary school when I was in high school because I wanted to be a pastry chef. I never realize how great my mom was at supporting my dreams until I sit down and think about things like this.
4) the first photo I had published was during my senior year of high school. It was a fall photo of the fence by our home. An artist saw it and asked if she could paint it and now I have a painting of a fence my pap built that doesn't exist anymore.
Hope you enjoyed this week's random facts about me 😂 what's something not many people know about you?
Instagram post 2194670581252070902_12073077 I love their love. I was so scared to have Parker because I was afraid she would feel like I didn't love her as much as I did before, but I feel like it was the best thing we've ever done for her. They've got something special.
Instagram post 2194528823683700067_12073077 Please tell me y'all have seen Taylor Swift's new Christmas Tree Farm video! I just saw it yesterday right before I started wrapping up the last few weeks of holiday tradition sessions. It took me right back to my childhood Christmas memories and had me kicking myself for not taking some video at each of my holiday sessions to compile into a "family" film for my business memories. I've had a really great couple of weeks full of magic and memory making and that video just gave me all the nostalgic feels.
Instagram post 2194409572339660433_12073077 I love making things. I always have. The number of craft and activity books my mom had for me was a little ridiculous. I hate being bored, and I used to say I was an unimaginable number of times a day so she was always trying to give me ways to create. Here's the thing though, an activity that takes too long also makes me bored. I'd rather do something that takes a few hours not a few days.

I've really been wanting a chunky knit blanket, so I got some yarn I really liked and started working. I wanted it a little bigger and probably should've used all the skeins I bought, but after taking a few days to get the throw done, I decided it was big enough and stopped. It's big enough to cover all of Piper, though, and she claimed ownership of it when she got up yesterday.
Instagram post 2193837240709575590_12073077 These Holiday Tradition sessions have been such a wonderful way to introduce people to documentary family photography without the stress of trying to figure out what to do. It's difficult for people to let go of control when it comes to photos of themselves, so these sessions have allowed each client the ability to harness some control of their session. Each one has created such wonderful memories of my own.
Instagram post 2193766150486459132_12073077 The closer he gets to 3, the more emotional he becomes. He throws big tantrums and has a hard time getting calm once he's in one. I'm a lot different in my parenting style after having him, though. Before, I would've reached a level of frustration and probably yelled and been very upset about a tantrum lasting over an hour. Since having him, though, we find that remaining calm and caring while also being firm about the things we expect is what's best. He's napping 2 hours earlier than usual today, because he just couldn't control himself. His mind and body need a chance to relax and reset before we talk about it. When I laid him down he had one request: to have Piper read him a book. I obliged because how could I not?
Instagram post 2193265723160586443_12073077 I often imagine what it would be like if I had a moment to get in front of each person in my area who would benefit from a documentary family session. It's difficult to portray my love for the genre and the importance of investing in something like it. If I could just have a moment to share my heart and show why it's important, then, maybe then people would understand. I usually well up with tears to each person who I've ever had a moment to talk to about it. .
I decided to make an investment of my own and hired @sureshotsocial to help me make that dream a reality. The video that he created for me was EXACTLY what I was hoping for. It makes me cry when I watch it. It's a beautiful outward expression of the way I feel about my work, and I couldn't have hoped for anything else. Check out my IGTV to watch for yourself and make sure to follow @sureshotsocial! He's going places.
Instagram post 2193113162097077628_12073077 @sureshotsocial sent me my promo video today. You guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sat there with my heart pounding as I waited for it to open and immediately burst into tears when I saw it. It's my heart for documentary on a video. When I watch it I feel proud of who I am and what I do and it makes me want to keep moving forward. Aaron, you have no idea the gift you've given me. I cannot wait to share it with all of you!
