It is understood that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of any storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean that the storm never happened or that we are not still dealing with it’s aftermath. It means that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope. -unknown
I’ve known Courtney for a couple years now, so watching her journey to motherhood has been something special. She and her husband, Jacob, were so excited to start a family that they decided to try right after they got married. Unfortunately, after only a week of knowing they were pregnant, the newlyweds lost their first baby. Courtney told me that it was a devastating time and that one of the saddest things was being so afraid to try again.
We wanted that to be a happy time rather than feeling stressed or worried that something negative would happen a second time. However, when we found out we were pregnant again four months later we stayed positive and knew that whatever was meant to happen, would. Now we are over the moon with our little girl.
Seeing Courtney hold her beautiful, baby girl today was inspiring. Elsie is such a gift, and I have never seen a more laid back set of new parents. You can just tell that they take nothing for granted. After almost four years of motherhood under my belt, Courtney had a thing or two to teach me about parenthood today. Elsie James, you are a wonder. You are a gift. You are a rainbow.
