Summer has officially begun in West Virginia. The heat is heavy, hay is being made and Carrie and Josh will be meeting their little girl in about two weeks!
Carrie, owner and photographer at Carrie Leigh Photography, knows and understands the importance of photography and asked me to come out to their farm to document what life was like before their little girl arrives. She wants their future children and grandchildren to see photos of them when they were young.
Spending time with Carrie at this session reminded me of why I think documentary photography is so important. Our family history and stories depend on the memories we make during certain times in our lives. Photos help us to remember what life is and was like. There are stories tied to these photos and they’re stories that will be passed down.
